Leonardo da Vinci
Taking the position that there can be one truth or indeed many truths within our world, my resolve is that the only reliable truth in photography is the truth of my human experience in its making.

WHO AM I: Chris Byrnes AKA Lady Camera Obscura
“Chris Byrnes AKA Lady Camera Obscura remains obsessively in love with the medium of photography. Byrnes’ description refers to photography found among its history, formative, scientific explorative years, often mixed with contemporary experimental, analogue, and the extended human experience of drawing through and beyond photographic studio research. After formal post graduate studies Byrnes continues to engage in a conceptual and physical practice underpinned by the phenomena of light, the camera obscura and the role of chance in image creation. Extending into drawing through photography allows for experimental research mixing the medium of photography and drawing thus playing with light and mark making. Recent works explore the accumulative experience of seeing mountain landscapes. Describing herself as someone who relies on “an economy of means” with process and outcome, works are driven and enriched by materials and options accessible at that point in time.”
